Steps
1)Make your presence known but not TOO known. Go to the gym, go bowling or whatever you like to do, that way when you meet someone you already have something in common. Even if she was dragged to the Justin Bieber concert by her little sister too, you can both laugh about it. Laughter is a great way to break the ice.
2)Dress nice, smell good and take care of yourself. Don't wear too much cologne and don't wear super trendy clothes. Be approachable and don't be forceful. Make eye contact but not too much. If you saw that she's drinking the same beer as you, mention it. If she's wearing a concert T with your favorite band on it, point that out.
3)It's OK to be shy, but most girls expect the guy to the make the first move. Shyness can work to your advantage but don't let it keep you from talking to the girl. Just take it slow and be yourself. People get nervous because they worry about all the things that can go wrong. Just focus on the moment and you will be OK.
4)Be in the right place. Bars and clubs are not the ideal places to meet quality girls. You can meet someone that could develop a really good relationship with, but it's a lot more likely that you will meet someone for a casual encounter. If you want a girl who you can take home to your parents, try meeting her at church, college, at a restaurant or amusement park.
5)Be honest. Honesty is the best policy. Every girl you meet has relationship potential, so start off on the right foot by being honest. Don't lie about your age, your car, your kids, your job or your relationship status. It's better to find out in the beginning that you have nothing in common than to waste precious time. Also the right girl will care about you for the right reasons, not for your material possessions.
6)Don't try out some line you saw in a movie, unless you're really funny and witty and can pull it off. It can be a great way to break the ice or it can be a disaster, so be prepared either way. Not everyone is as funny as Vince Vaughn.
7)Compliment her. Try not to go for the nice smile or nice eyes compliment. It's really nice if you mean it, but it has been so over used that it's better to compliment her on something unexpected, such as you smell amazing, your hair is beautiful or I love that dress it really compliments you.
8)Show her what kind of person you are. If you love Lord of the Rings, admit it. If you still read comic books, that's cool too. Be yourself and the rest will follow. If you like to work out or play sports, continue to do those things and you will meet the right person.
9)Mention traits about yourself that girls like. You're a neat freak, you love to cook, or you have game night with your family every week. These are all assets to a girl because they show that you are self-sufficient and a grown-up.
10)Be open minded. If a friend invites you to a concert or movie you wouldn't ordinarily attend, go. You never know who you'll meet.
